Actual Day Preparation - Invitation Card

Invitation card is one of the wedding stuff you can juggle with creativity. I've seen some lovely cards with really much thoughts put into it. Cards like "plane ticket", booklet, parcel etc do give a touch of sincerity in inviting your guests over to your wedding. However, it's also often that the cards being tossed away right after the ceremonies. So, Wilson and I decided we're doing the cards in the conventional way, red bomb way. We got our cards printed from Re.d Sea.son Gall.ery in Seri Petaling. Their customer service is really crappy. We got to revise our wordings in the invitation cards for 5 times before they managed to get things right. Anyway it's complimentary from the restaurant so we anyhow be patient with the printing shop and got our cards ready 1.5 months before the actual day. So it's time to get our hands onto finalizing the guests list and writing names on the cards. I've got a cute love-shaped sticker roll to seal the envelo

Actual Day Preparation - Food Tasting

Our wedding reception would be held in Grand Palace Restaurant, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. We were given a complimentary 10 pax set dinner for tasting of the actual food we ordered for the guests. Me and my family, together with Wilson and family happily sit in for the food tasting session on 10th of November 2012.  The dishes generally tasted not bad. We had some comments though.  Palace Four Season Combination - To add another "dish" in the center of the plate making it Five Season Combination, we thought the center piece being empty is not grandly presented. Double Boiled Shark's Fin with Village Chicken - To be changed to the usual braised shark's fin with crab meat. Personally we would really like to omit the shark's fin, but the old folks insisted. Roasted Whole Suckling Pig - Wilson loved the taste, but others comment that it was too thin, so this dish is to be improved on the thickness of the pork meat. Nevermind bout me, I'm not a pork-eater.

W.O.T.P.

10th of November 2012, the day we booked our first property together as husband and wife. It was indeed a huge milestone after we signed our ROM papers. This is a luxury condominium developed by Selangor Dredging Berhad and it's located at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Batu 9, Cheras Selatan. This is a very interesting development because it is situated on 8.9 acres of Freehold land with 4.2 acres of landscaped environment (Yes, half of the development is actually greenery!) The unit built-up range between 916 sq. ft. to 4,311 sq. ft. and sold for about RM450 - RM680 per square feet.  We bought a unit at Block C which is lowest block on the left. Location of W.O.T.P. with proposed MRT station few kilometers away.  The lovely greenery and facilities are really serene and awesome! Facilities: 50m lap pool Children’s wading pool Children outdoor play area Teen’s play area 2 nos. of indoor badminton courts Gym/ aerobic room Function hall by the pool (6 ban

Pre-Wedding Album Design Viewing

We waited for a month to view the album design and also check out the edited version of our chosen photos. From the hundreds of photo, we chose 88 to for album production. So only 88 photo being edited. We first looked at the page designs arranged by the graphic designer. Observed the way he organized our photo into flow of stories in the albums and gave some comments based on our liking. He edited the pages on the spot for our approval. It was a really efficient job done. However the soft copy of the album designs were not given to us so unable to show it here at the moment. And the second part is to look closely on the "touch ups" done to our figures. My cheek smile lines removed, Wilson's face slightly smoothen and some other minor touch ups. I like this bridal shop's style as they maintain our figures and the outcome is natural beauty instead of a total stranger even to ourselves. The results/comparison is as shown in the following photo: So now, we

Wind of Change

Have not really update on things other than wedding nowadays. Well, the wind of change lately has been strong. Not only I'm changed to Mrs Lai now, I'm also changing home address soon, and will have another drastic change in my career path. I'm ditching engineering, for good. Never have I thought this day would come. I have loved engineering since day one I started Science Stream in Form 4. I wanted to be an engineer. I achieved that until certain level, but now I'm putting a full stop, or perhaps a comma to it. Days in Company H and Company V had me reconsidered what exactly I like doing. I was in business development in both companies, for engineering products. I re-evaluate those days, how much % I'm happy and how much % I'm not. My conclusion is, sad to say, only 40% happy. Maybe I'm weak but I would rather opt for the reason that I'm unlucky in banking for employers. Company V is cash rich, but with difficult customers and limited room

Pre Wedding Photo Selection

After 2 months of waiting, we finally could view our pre-wedding photo. The long wait due to us, missing a slot of pre-booked schedule and the photographer's schedule was really full to reslot us in. So there it goes, we arrived at As.pial at 4.30pm. Greeted happily by the crew and started immediately browsing through the photos. Our photographer Dylan was with us throughout, to assist on the selection.  First round, we looked through the 298 photos on slideshow. The crew was happily commenting such beautiful shots due to their expertise. Well well.. I was really awed by the photos honestly. The feelings were beyond words. I've always like to browse at others' pre-wed photo, trying to figure out what kind of style I like, now that I'm looking at my own pre-wed photos. We were really on the clouds. Totally love our photos so so much. We looked so beautifully in love, with some fierce poses looking like models, some candid shots capturing happy and light moments. Thi

First Gynae Visit

It's quite a shame to say I finally build up the courage to see the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist for the first time at this age. It has always been a nightmare listening to the story of how Papsmear and Ultrasound being performed by a total stranger at your intimate part. Although I'm truly aware I should at least see the gynae once a year to check for well-being of my female organs, I procrastinated until yesterday. That's when Wilson insisted I should do the check-ups before we officially start family planning. So I made some researches, these pre-marital check ups could be as comprehensive as you name it, the fees could add up to thousands. Since I did my full body check up just 2 years back, I opt for a basic well women package which consists of papsmear, pelvic ultrasound, breast examination and gynae consultation. I took this package from Pan.tai Hosp. KL and was recommended by their Health Screening Centre to go with Dr. Prem.itha.  - An hour wait

Somewhere In Between

We've been legally Mr and Mrs for almost 3 months now. But that is only on paper, we have not gone through customary chinese wedding yet. Another 4 months to go till the big day. So we're now somewhere in between legally Mr & Mrs and officially Mr & Mrs.  It is quite a confusing state where: Do we call each other hubby and wife? Yes, we do. The wedding registrar already pronounced us as husband and wife during registration of marriage right?  We are not staying together yet. Our new house is not ready for move in, yet. Therefore after the ROM we're still staying with parents. It did make us feel not-so-married as we were still on phone to say "hello, how's the day?" after work.  Refer to each other as hubby and wife in front of family, friends and colleagues. Some friends & colleague already started mentioning him as "your husband". I felt it's alright. What about me? Me too, started to mention "my husband" in conve

Chaperone Lady

Only recently I added this word to my English vocabulary, "Chaperone Lady" or better known as Dai Kum Jie. Chinese has dozens of traditional customs in wedding, so we thought it would be better to have this lady to guide us through a smooth and blissful chinese wedding.  I was checking with few good friends who has recently got married, got a few contacts from them. Apparently there are some criteria to fulfil as a Chaperone, which are: Pleasant appearance Quick thinking and observant Fluent with auspicious speech; best in yours and in-law's dialect Well-versed in traditions, ceremonies and important customs For us, we prefer someone who's less pushy and with modern thinking, someone who can cheer up the wedding events and bring fun to the serious rituals in Chinese wedding.   So after speaking to a few ladies, we finally made decision to hire "Tou Jie or Doris" from Thean Hou Temple as our Chaperone Lady. She's a lovely lady, always wea

Hong Kong - Macau Trip Day 5

Day 5 is the last day of the trip. Why oh why happy time flies? We have planned to travel to Central for an experience of local dim sum on early Sunday morning. Headed to "Lin Heung Lau Tea House" at Wellington Street. It took us quite sometime to finally find the restaurant, as it was quite hidden along the steps and layers around the Wellington street area.  - Unique lanes around Wellington Street - Stepping into Lin Heung Lau made us felt very much stepping into "Old Hong Kong". The old-fashioned tea house with dim sum aroma simply completes our trip this time to Hong Kong. However, too be frank we did not really enjoyed this meal. There were too many people in this eateries and food were served slow. Everyone simply got to go after the dim sum cart right the moment it came out from the kitchen. So we only managed to grab a few dishes. The taste of the dim sum somehow was not really extraordinary to us. We actually prefer our local dim sum more. But th

Hong Kong - Macau Trip Day 4

Day 4 of our trip is purposely scheduled as a free and easy day. We planned to roam around Hong Kong towns to experience the local cultures here. So we woke up slightly later that day, recovering from the tiring Disneyland trip the day before. We walked out from hotel to a nearby porridge stall "Ocean Empire Food Shop" nearby the Wan Chai MTR station for late breakfast. Wilson ordered pork and century egg porridge and I ordered rice  roll with shrimp. Both are Hong Kong's must try and yeap, we tried. - The rice roll was not that good anyway.. ours are much better - We then hopped onto the MTR towards "Sham Shui Po" or they called it the wholesale fashion outlet streets according to the Lonely Planet travel booklet. But I was really disappointed as the clothing here was very much fit for the more mature ladies instead.  - Sham Shui Po, Fashion Outlets - We then walked towards Ap Liu Flea Market, supposed to be a flea market selling second hand e

Hong Kong - Macau Trip Day 3

Did I mention why we chose this particular week for the trip? It is actually to celebrate both my birthday and our 11th anniversary here. 26th of July is both my birthday and our courtship anniversary, the 11th this year. And it will be the last courtship anniversary before we move on to new chapter next year, marriage anniversary. Therefore we decided to have something special, hence, HK Disneyland here we come! So this day, 3rd day of the trip, we headed out for breakfast as early as 9am to yet another Cha Chan Teng with the name "Honolulu Cafe" at Hennessy Road . This was where Jacky Cheung and Tang Wei shot their movie "Crossing Hennessy". We actually did enjoy the simple breakfast very much. Luncheon meat mee, luncheon meat sandwich, toast with egg and Polo bun. Yum! I have to order most of the time as the menu is all written in cantonese which Wilson has no idea about. Even myself is just half literate on it :-) - Yummy breakfast, Hongkie style -
