Renovation Part 3 - Painting Done!

For the last few weeks, I've been so busy balancing out time for my work, house renovations and at the same time friends' weddings. My house renovation is almost done by now, leaving some bits here and there to touch up. The painting is done within 7 days by an old uncle, which still proved to be effective. Colour coding for my house as follow: Living Room : Light beige with feature wall, darker beige *Electrical stuff done: fan, light, wall lamp done!* Master Bedroom : Light green *Mom's favourite colour* Middle Bedroom : Light green *My brother's room* Back Bedroom : Pink (MY ROOM!) *aoooouuu.... so lovely pink~~~* Yard : White + Grill : Light Silver Kitchen : Beige (tiles) *Kitchen cabinet coming soon* Toilets : Beige (tiles) *Toilet accessories all done including sink, bottles holder, mirror, toothbrush holder etc* Balcony: Light Green + Brown Grill (original building colour) This is a small and simple house, but it meant a lot for me & my family. Renovation Part 2 - Tiles done!

The hacking of old tiles in 2 bathrooms took 2 days, I was told that the hacking was really difficult due to the work method used by original contractors many years back. After hacking, workers start to stick the new tiles onto the naked concrete wall. It took them merely 8 days to get all the tiles up, including the concrete table top for my kitchen. The house look great and NEW after the tiles make over! I'm just sooooo thrilled!! - 3 rooms, homogeneous tiles (brand: White Horse) - - Bathrooms (brand: Kimgres) - - Kitchen, concrete table + tiles (brand: Kimgres) to ceiling - - Love the kitchen REALLY much! Kitchen is the heart of the family, totally agree! - - Yard & Balcony, same tiles with the kitchen flooring (brand: Alpha) - Next highlights: 1. Installation of bathroom accessories 2. Bathroom's ceiling 3. Wall & Grill Painting 4. Installation of lighting, fan & aircon I would be heading to MACY (Minlon) next weekend for curtain shopping, there will be a big bi

Renovation Part 1 - Plan & Do!

Renovation is really a tough job, not just about the unbelievable amount of money to spend but also the very detail of works to be planned and executed. I've started the renovation job to my house, my first ever property. At first I thought, let's just have a simple touch up to the house and move in. But surprises come wave by wave.. there are actually tonnes of works to be done to the house! Remove old parquet in 3 bedrooms, replace with new tiles. Remove old worn tiles in 2 bathrooms, replace with new tiles. Remove old tiles and cabinets in kitchen, replace with new tiles and new kitchen cabinets (concrete frame & custom made internal cabinets). Re-route piping and cables in bathrooms. Install ceiling in 2 bathrooms to hide the sanitary piping. Re-route & hide wiring, cables and air-con ducting in the whole house. Demolish the big old cabinet in the living room. Replace all switches, wall sockets, and lamps. Install new wall lamps, fans, fuse box, astro etc.. Replace

Love Blossoms

Attended Ai Teng's ROM earlier of the month, on a beautiful date 09.09.09 at the Chinese Assembly Hall in town. It was a date where hundreds of couple tied a knot, signed a paper to acknowledge their commitment to each other. Witnessing this event gave me a big smile both on my face (photo taking mar...) and also in my heart. The lovely couples went through a few steps before being officially pronounced as husband and wife. First they exchanged vows, massively as there were hundreds of couples. Then they would come to the signing tables, six couples by six couples to sign the marital papers. After signing, couples marched towards the stage to walk through the happiness door (a flowery wired "door" on the stage). Then they got back to their seats and exchanged rings, kiss and drinks. There were complimentary bird-nest drink from the organizers. Lastly all couples cut their wedding cakes and took group photographs before ending the ceremony. My lovely zi-mui and her newly w

One Year Old

15.09.2008 A date I commenced work in Company Q. So do the other 30s of us, all from different background bringing different goals and dreams in a new environment. It all happen in a blink of eye, we are one year old now, our experiences are one year old now. Like it or not, we walked through mud pool with safety shoes, we sailed through problems with sleepless nights. What's cooking? we eat 'em. What's falling, we embrace 'em. That was how we go about, for the pass one year. Maybe it wasn't so fun for me compared to other colleagues whom joined Company Q together. I was only given a candy as to spend 2 miserably short weeks in Germany. I was tucked in the mud pool when others are happily skiing in snowy mountains. I was looking through tonnes of drawings and design documents when others are having team building in Venice. I was awake at night when others showed me droplets of snowflakes. I was eating mixed rice in contractor's canteen when others were munching

Bali Trip Day 7

It was the last day of our 1 week long holiday, Day 7 came before I'm ready. It's time to do last minute shopping. We woke up by 6.30am that day, walked to the wet market in Ubud, 20mins away from our hotel. It was a nice experience strolling in the wet market, looking at a totally different culture there. The busy market started building up crowd as early as 7am. But it was considered late, as markets in Malaysia already crowded by 5am, yes, way before dawn. We were disappointed because the souvenirs shop weren't open this early, to make ways for vege, fruits sellers. Look at the vibrant colours, beautiful isn't it? Flowers for offerings. I like the pink ones. :) After a drink at the stall, we slowly witness shops opening one by one. So we started our hunting, I bought so much that almost spent all my indon rupees. Only kept a 100,000 rupee for airport taxes. After the spending spree, we headed back to hotel to pack up. From 1 luggage, to 3 fully packed luggage. I am s

Bali Trip Day 6

Day 6 approached too fast, before we realized it was the second last day of our trip! We made a round-table discussion to decide which attraction to go. And hey! We've been to almost all places of interest~ except the Kuta beach, since there is an old man in our gang who doesn't like the beach. I'm for sure, absolutely double triple quadruply NOT ever ever EVER to include this old man in our trips anymore. He's a spoilage to the gang. Finally we agreed on a last destination to whack~ The Mother Temple Besakih located in the village of Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung in eastern Bali. Wilson would be the one driving the jeep and I am the one navigating the map! - Wilson on Katana - We reached Mother's Temple at 11am in the morning. The temple can be a bit of a tourist trap, especially during the day. In the evening it quietens down and may be a better time to visit. Besakih does have a system of temple guides, which can be annoying for some people. Besakih is not
