UTAR Kampar - Ipoh day trip

Last Sunday, we went to UTAR, Kampar to make booking for MH's hostel and check out the conditions there. I couldn't remember when was the last time I went out-of-KL with my family. Life had been so hectic recent years. We took the opportunity to take a day tour to Kampar-Ipoh.

We started the journey at 9 in the morning after breakfast. It was my first experience fetching my family outstation. I had a mixed feeling, just like what my mom described, it was her and dad to fetch us last time but now I'm the one driving. Time flies. The journey was very enjoyable as my 2 talkative brothers kept me entertained with their never ending stories. I'm glad to have them around seriously. Hard times are always easier with their jokes and laughter echoing in the house.

- On the way to UTAR -

At about 11am, we reached Kampar. The place is as deserted as how everyone describes. UTAR is about half an hour away from the toll exit. Along the way was some sort of rural estate with 1 or 2 old houses every 1km. As I drove by herds of cows, we shouted.. "WAAaAaAaa... COWS!!!!" and my mom commented.. "No.. that's buffalo.." [haha.. we are indeed urbanites]

Upon reaching UTAR, we headed straight to the student community area to check out the houses. Goodness, those houses are like Bukit Tinggi Resort! Lucky MH..

- The triple-storey house from outside -

And I couldn't forget my flat-hostel back in uni-days. UTAR students are lucky.. So we proceed to make a booking for a twin-sharing room for him. RM200 per month with everything covered - basic furnitures, laundry, broadband etc. Great hor?

- The room we booked -
[Can you spot someone's stomach?]

We went to have a look at UTAR campus after that. The campus was quite nice but still deserted without many trees around. There were many lakes around the campus and it's an ideal place for students to hang out. I seriously think this is a good place to study, hopefully MH will make good use of this 3 years to study hard here.. (with minimum entertainment, haha)

- UTAR entrance (I suppose..heehe) -

After the serious matters, we headed off to Ipoh for lunch. It was an hour journey to reach Ipoh. We were already starving by then. I took quite long to search for the famous "Tian Jin Ipoh Kuey Teow" which my friend recommended. But it was really amazing that in the end I manage to find the place without map or proper direction from anyone. :) Who say women has no sense of direction?

- Ipoh Kuey Teow, bean sprouts, white coffee -

Opps, they were too hungry and gobbled the food before I can take any photo. Too bad we thought the food was not that nice afterall, overrated stuff. =/

After lunch I decided to bring them to the Kek Lok Cave situated at Gunung Rapat, not far away from town. I heard this is a very beautiful place and really worth a visit, so I tried to find my way there. Again, without map and directions. Thanks to the good roadsigns, I managed to reach that cave. Yeap, indeed a very beautiful place.

- MF : Overexcited like a 3 years old kid -

- Heavenly garden at the back of the cave -

- Erm, enjoying life? -

- Me, MH, Mom, MF -

That concluded our one day trip to Kampar-Ipoh. Headed home after this and the journey back home seemed longer than before. Why? Because the 2 rascals slept through the whole journey.

MF: Jie, I thought I wanted to accompany you, but I didn't know why I felt asleep!

MH: Pig.

Sister: Nevermind...

What am I?

It has been some time since I last updated this blog. Heaps of stuff happened and I just had the time to pull a break and evaluate the events that happened to me in the past 1 month. I've changed my job, moving into sales line is not an easy decision to make. I was doubtful with myself until I really come on board. Perhaps it may be too soon to tell where I stand in this job, but I was really thankful that my current boss gave me an insight of myself. We had sessions to understand what are our temperament. This is something that govern what kind of job that fits us. Apparently I am an "Artisan" after few rounds of personality tests. An artisan loves freedom, leads by taking action, seeks to have impact and variation, needs appreciation, a risk taker, problem solver and an opportunist. When I read the full description bout what I am, I immediately understand why I felt in constraint and bored working in the manufacturing line. I am just not that type of person that falls i...

New Haircut

A haircut for the new beginning :) My previous hairstyle was BOB, I took courage to cut it short last 2 years. So for the last 2 years I didn't visit saloon at all. Finally today I thought I have to cut off my out-of-shape hair, I have to trim it back into shape! Quite bored with layered hairstyle, so I tried the straight cut.. to make my hair look fuller and straight. Not bad, I quite like this hairstyle~ It's a preparation before I make digital perm later :P Long & Straight hair - Love it!

Flashbacks

- How it all started - I entered Victoria Institution, as a form 6 student. On the first day of school, we were divided into classes of FM 1 and FM 2. I was allocated in FM 2, and so did most of BBGS girls. We were contented with the arrangement, but not someone. He was from BBSP school, which I had never heard of. All other BBSP students were allocated in FM 1, with him as an alien in our class. I believe he was really angry with the arrangement. The class teacher promised him to swap, provided he top our FM2. Most of the time he won't be spending time in our class and preferred loitering around in the other class. We didn't really care much bout him and so did he. We didn't interact much, but in the class he was a gem to the teachers. Our chemistry teacher liked him so much that she told me, "that boy sitting at the edge of the class (referring to him) is a very good and clever boy ya?"I smirked :\ After many weeks, finally we had group...
